The ISACS Network was delighted to attend FiraTàrrega – one of Europe’s largest street arts festivals once more, in 2024.
The festival’s mission is to foster creativity, innovation, and artistic production, and to explore the potential of public space and street arts. Their aim is to create alliances based on networking, partnerships and synergies with the sector, to broaden the opportunities within the performing arts market in the national and international spheres.
ISACS Presence at FiraTàrrega
This year, the Irish Street Arts, Circus and Spectacle Network hosted ‘Presenting Ireland’ on September 7th at Territori Creatiu, La Llotja.
Presenters Lucy Medlycott (ISACS), Tara McGowan (Cairde), Paul Brown (Earagail), Anna Giribet i Argilés (Fira Tàrrega), Neus Ribas (Cine Sineu) spoke about:
- the Irish Focus at Ciclop Festival de Teatre Visual De Sineu 2024 (Balearic Islands),
- the International Residency Initiative Scheme “IRIS” involving Cairde Arts Festival, Earagail Arts Festival (Ireland), FiraTàrrega (Catalunya) and artists Rob Heaslip and Kristyn Fontanella – Fontanella Dance Company.

A beautiful bonanza of informative networking, inspiring shows and fruitful relationship building with both Irish and international delegates. I’ve never seen so much art off the island of Ireland before – which will influence my own practice and help me to understand another context of making street arts, circus and spectacle work. Ironically, going away to Tarrega allowed me to finally meet some Irish artists and arts workers I’d never met before. These are valuable hope-filled connections for me.
