Kath Gorman is a creative producer, curator and arts management consultant with significant senior arts management experience in Ireland and the UK. She has recently set up Promenade, providing artists and organisations with strategic and creative development supports to help reach their goals and aspirations in the fields of circus, participatory arts, public art, spectacle and street arts. She is currently working on an Arts Council commissioned research study regarding circus building based infrastructure in Ireland. She is also the Adviser, Arts Participation for The Arts Council.
She was until last year Head of Participation and Engagement at Cork Midsummer Festival, previously holding the role of Artistic Curator. Relevant projects she has produced for Cork Midsummer Festival include outdoors participatory dining project La Cocina Pública by Teatro Container and the Irish leg of large-scale circus and hip-hop production Union Black, for Creative Europe partnership Circus250: Diverse, Real, Physical with partners Crying Out Loud, Le Plus Petit Cirque Du Monde and Subtopia.
Kath was the Project Manager for large-scale outdoors art commission Cork Ignite by visual artist Simon Mckeown (commissioned by National Sculpture Factory and Create in 2014/15) for Cork City Culture Night 2015. Relevant consultancy work examples: strategic review and organisational development plans for Circus Factory and National Circus Festival of Ireland; mentoring and organisational development supports for Cork Puppetry Company; and advisory supports on the creation of a strategic development plan for FRESH STREET#3, hosted by ISACS in partnership with Circostrada for Galway2020. Other previous roles include: Director of Kinsale Arts Week; Festival Producer for youth creativity service BBC Blast and Director of London arts centre Jacksons Lane. She has been a board member of both Little Angel Theatre and Total Theatre. She was also a steering group member for the inaugural Total Theatre Awards.
