Extension to pilot scheme announced
Minister Patrick O’Donovan has announced a six month extension to the Pilot Scheme for Basic Income for the Arts. You can see more HERE.
National Campaign for the Arts Strategy and Plan
This marks the beginning of a coordinated campaign in raising the profile of the sector call to Retain, Extend and Expand Basic Income for the Arts.
The National Campaign for the Arts will host a number of sector consultations over the coming six months that will seek input from artists, arts workers and arts organisations to determine what recommendations the NCFA can make on behalf of the sector to the department as they plan a successor scheme for 2026.

How Can You Support The Campaign?
Actively contact your local representatives.
See a template email HERE, or call your local TD’s constituency office and speak to them in person.
Please contact your local creative organisations and ask them to support the campaign by speaking to their reps, posting on social media, or alerting colleagues, students, and creative team members to the campaign push.
Use any social media channels available to you to reshare the NCFA messaging. The team will regularly be posting across all social channels.
If available to you, speak to local media about the issues outlined above and the need for support.

Become a Constituency Coordinator
As a Constituency Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in your local area by:
- Engaging local media using ready-made press packs and campaign materials
- Meeting with your local TD’s and Councillors to advocate for continued investment in the arts
- Connecting with local artists and communities to raise awareness and build support
This is a flexible, meaningful role for someone who wants to take action locally while being part of a national movement. You don’t need to be an expert—just passionate, organised, and ready to make a difference.
