Last month, we were delighted to bring our first 2023 instalment of DELVE programme to Dublin Dance Festival.
The DELVE (Discover, Explore, Learn, Visualise and Engage) programme – aims to support artists to experience and be inspired by art through a range of festivals and programmes throughout Ireland. We go, we see, we watch, we listen, we learn, we connect with art and art makers and we get inspired.
The selected artists Emily Aoibheann and Chloé Commins had a fantastic time, attending masterclasses and shows such as Navy Blue by Oona Doherty, Kindred by Liz Roche & LightScape, The Sudden By PanPan, Alien by Taneli Törna, Best Regards By Marco D Agostin, and King | Shrine by Emma Martin.
Here is what they said about their experience:
Over the course of the festival I attended 5 shows and three workshops. Koln Concert, Yes and Yes, Navy Blue, The Sudden, Best Regards. The shows were interesting and diverse and the workshops were informative. It was a great introduction into the festival and the industry. Great experience overall, very eye opening in terms of what is presented as art or performance. Made me think alot about the process of creating work. Thank you for the opportunity.
-Chloe Commins
DELVE is best suited for those who need and want exposure to and immersion in other people’s work from process to production. DELVE is also an ideal opportunity to get to know the identity of a festival under current leadership, in this case the Dublin Dance Festival, including curatorial priorities and Directoral interests. The experience further provides insight into trends and preoccupations of the national and international arts establishment. Participation in DELVE significantly clarified my own artistic ambitions, values, intentions and tastes.
