Lidija Sola is a Croatian contemporary circus artist and co-founder of Tricycle Trauma, an experimental circus collective with a focus on critical reflection of many deep-routed social issues and driving change through their artwork.
Lidija works cross disciplinary and creates work through a combination of circus, dance, physical theatre, extreme musical forms and visual art.
Primarily she uses her artwork to portray issues in society such as women’s rights, oppression, sexual violence and crime.
She has been producing solo and collaborative performances, hybrid-performing programmes and educational projects throughout Croatia, Bosnia, Nigeria and Ireland. She has been part of inter-disciplinary projects with the DB Indos House of Extreme Musical Theatre in experimental performances F:I:L:M:S:K:A:T:E:K:A, “Formed in a Stance”. and at the opening of the 2020 European Capital of Culture Rijeka with the play “Opera Industriale”.
Lidija is currently developing (Un)Holy Blood, a surreal contemporary circus play inspired by the Alejandro Jodorowsky film “Santa Sangre”, which will premiere in St. Luke’s Cork in May 2023 and is supported by Arts Council Circus Project Award and Cork City Council Project Scheme.
