by Lidija Šola
Presented by Circus Factory and Pitch’d Circus and Street Arts Festival
Lirio is an unofficial saint. Dismembered and killed by two brothers, a pool of her holy blood springs from the ground and a church is built to protect it. Inside its walls she is a symbol of female suffering and perseverance. But what happens when this place of worship is bulldozed?
(Un) Holy Blood is an alternate reality where Lirio is given a voice, a temple and her arms back.
Inspired by a scene in Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Santa Sangre, this production fuses contemporary circus and theatre to sanctify the female experience and profess female light. (Un) Holy Blood is a multimedia experience, combining physical movement, visual projections, soundscapes and film.
