The ISACS Network are thrilled to partner again with Wexford Arts Centre to bring back the LIFT Residency Programme. This is one of ISACS four flagship artform residency programmes along with Áras Éanna, Jumpstart and NEST.
LIFT offers mentoring and creation space for solo/duo ground-based circus artists via an open-call residency in Wexford Town – from November 11th to the 15th 2024.
We are thrilled to announce the selected artist for this year’s edition is ISACS Member Elisa Gallo Rosso.
Here below her expectations for the programme:
I envision the LIFT Residency as a transformative haven. It’s a space where I could heal, experiment, and deepen the integration of music and movement into “51 Removals.” Born from my personal experiences of migration and belonging, weaves together physical theater, puppetry, and poetry to create a whimsical yet poignant exploration of departures and arrivals. Collaborating with Cormac O’Connor, we’ll craft musical landscapes that guide the audience through the emotional nuances of each scene, evoking a sense of place and belonging that transcends words. This exploration is especially crucial as I navigate the complexities of recovery, seeking new ways to express the show’s physicality through the harmonious interplay of sound and movement.
About the Residency
The LIFT Residency aims to provide space, support, expertise and room for circus artists to develop their practice. The selected artists will be granted the use of theatre space at Wexford Arts Centre along with the support of the Arts centre staff in the form of skill share sessions and mentoring from the centre’s Technician, Marketing Manager and Director. The use of a hot desk at the ISACS Network office for desktop research and subsequent reports/applications will also be made available.
LIFT is supported by County Wexford Arts Department, Wexford Arts Centre and Arts Council Ireland.
