The ISACS Network is extremely excited to announce a new multi-annual, artist development platform in partnership with Earagail Arts Festival, Cairde Sligo Arts Festival and Irish Aerial Dance Festival. Supported by Arts Council Ireland. This new national partnership will offer an artistic and sectoral mentoring programme for emerging aerial dance and circus artists via an open call residency – delivered by internationally recognized street arts, aerialists, circus and spectacle performers.
Jumpstart! will create opportunities to develop the street arts, circus and spectacle artforms by encouraging established artists to nurture emerging aerial artists and share their legacy, enrich and expand the artistic ambition and capacity of mid-career artists, grow and diversify audiences and deepen public engagement.
The focus for the inaugural year of the Jumpstart project in 2021 will be to invite applications from Irish born/Irish based emerging aerial dance and circus artists wishing to develop their practice with specific performance and technical training via a series of residential periods with leading artform specialists, as well as research and development of proposed new work for potential presentation in the summer of 2022.
Please note: Applicants must be either Irish born or Irish based aerial artists and be current members of the ISACS network.
The project will offer a paid residency over 5 weeks of training in autumn/winter 2021/2022:
- 1 week at Acroaer, Sligo – October /November 2021
- 3 weeks at IACC, Limerick – November / December 2021
- 1 week at EAF / Donegal – January 2022
A bursary of 500 euro per each week of the residency in each location plus accommodation costs will be offered to the successful applicant.
