HEALTHY IRELAND FUNAMBULISM WORKSHOPS
Saturday 22, May – Sunday, 23 May
10:30am – 12pm, 1 – 2.30pm and 3:30 – 5pm

Funambulism, the art of tightwire walking with a balancing pole, is a fun way to practise your balance, mindfulness and self-awareness. Starting on slacklines 30cm off the ground, participants learn to use the balancing pole and build toward higher wires, with the emphasis on building technique and practising focus. Suitable for all body types, ages and fitness levels, funambulism is an accessible art-form suited to anyone with the enthusiasm to try it.

SCRATCH NIGHT + GAME NIGHT

A special edition Mayhem Festival Scratch Night featuring performances from youth circus artists and professional guest artists from around the country. We will have a fun game night following the virtual show. Hosted and produced by our youth-led Scratch Night team.

Performance of ‘New Stool – Old Fool’ by Grant Goldie commissioned by the National Circus Festival of Ireland followed up by tea and chats with singer-songwriter Niceol Blue from the Galway Buskers Community about what street performance and busking means to Galway.

Youth Circus in Ireland – What Does It Mean to Us and Why Do We Do It?
5-6pm on Zoom| FREE | All ages

Join youth circus members from Belfast, Cloughjordan and Galway for this roundtable talk to hear them share all things circus. How are Irish youth circuses adjusting to life during the pandemic? What is the world record for toilet paper juggling? What is next for Irish youth circus?

OUTDOOR WORKSHOPS: PARK UP YOUR CIRCUS
Sunday, 30 May
10am-12pm | FREE | All ages | Shantalla Park

A mix of taster workshops for all circus lovers consisting of introductory circus activities where participants will play fun games and learn tips to improve their circus skills while making new friends. There will be three separate workshops that participants will rotate between, giving the opportunity to practice solo acrobatics, juggling and circus/theatre games.
