Ireland Sparks at Marché International De Cirque Contemporain

Lucy Medlycott started off her career studying Fine Art Sculpture in Limerick School of Art and Design. While in Limerick she discovered the versatility & dynamism of the street as a space for artistic exploration. Since graduating from Limerick in 1993, Lucy, together with a group of colleagues, went on to found Bui Bolg Outdoor Arts Company in Wexford, bringing their work from Ballina to Beijing and from Mullingar to Memphis and more.

Lucy co-founded the Irish Street Arts, Circus & Spectacle Network with Chantal McCormick of Fidget Feet & Ulla Hokkanen formerly of Galway Community Circus in late 2010. Lucy has worked with ISACS since 2014 and is currently Executive Director. She has big dreams for the future!

Kath Gorman is a creative producer, curator and arts management consultant with significant senior international arts management experience.  She is the founder of Promenade, providing artist and producer support for the world of circus, multi-disciplinary arts, participatory arts, public art, spectacle and street arts.  Promenade is currently funded under the Arts Council’s Creative Production Support Scheme 2024 & 2025.

Past roles include: Head of Participation and Engagement/Artistic Curator at Cork Midsummer Festival, Project Manager for large-scale outdoors art commission Cork Ignite, Festival Producer for youth creativity service BBC Blast flagship London events (National Theatre, Kensington Gardens & Trafalgar Square) and Director of London arts centre Jacksons Lane.  She has been a board member of Cork Printmakers, Little Angel Theatre and Total Theatre and was a steering group member for the inaugural Total Theatre Awards.

Darragh Mc Loughlin, born in 1987 in Ireland, moved to Berlin to attend the Jonglier Katakomben School of Juggling in 2006. In 2008 he attended the Academy for Circus and Performance Art and completed his education in Circus Arts. In 2014 was selected as a Circus Next laureate with ‘Fragments of a Mind’, and has since created several acclaimed works.

With his roots in contemporary circus, in Darragh’s works, there is a strong emphasis on the body and movement, both as languages and subjects. Each of his works operates with the experience of the audience being a central theme throughout.

Mateusz Szczerek is a Dublin based dance artist and professional member of Dance Ireland. Matt is an artistic director for Irish based company Human Collective and choreographer for International Circus/Dance company Kundle Cru.

His recent work includes END. – climate conscious dance production (granted HATCH Award 2022), residency at CSS Theatre in Codroipo, Italy – making new work with Kundle Cru, RSS Digital Commission 2022 at The Civic as a lead artist creating mix media piece using animation, dance and VR technology. Currently developing full version of the piece supported by Arts Council Ireland.
