ISACS is delighted to present Mary Aherne, Louis Plissoneau, Renata Dima and Christopher Moore as the artists invited to join the ISACS team, to experience the Pitch’d Circus and Street Arts Festival.
DELVE: Discover, Explore, Learn, Visualise and Engage – aims to support artists to experience and be inspired by art through various festivals and programmes throughout Ireland. We go, we see, we watch, we listen, we learn, we connect with art and art makers, and we get inspired.
Renata Dima are a multidisciplinary artist with a background in rock climbing, MMA, and design. After years of exploration, they have settled on aerial straps and handbalancing as the primary focuses of their circus practice.
As an aerial straps artist exploring themes of gender fluidity and expression, I am deeply inspired by the innovative work of companies like House of Circus. The DELVE programme will provide me with an unparalleled opportunity to learn from industry leaders, collaborate with other boundary-pushing artists, and refine my unique performance style. Attending the festival will allow me to share my work with new audiences and immerse myself in the vibrant artistic community, further honing my craft and artistic vision.
Chris has been involved in many physical pursuits throughout the years and hopes to pursue his passion for soft acrobatics and hand balancing towards developing an act and performing in the future.
Having recently decided to pursue performance in my discipline, participating in DELVE it’s a great opportunity to learn more about contemporary circus performance. It is also a great opportunity to meet other artists and broaden my horizons by exposing me to performance styles I may not have encountered before.
Mary Aherne is an aerial artist from Dublin, specializing in aerial silks, aerial hoop, and flying trapeze. She discovered her passion as a teenager in her first aerial silks class, and has been avoiding the ground ever since.
Mary has studied aerial in various schools across Dublin, Belfast, Berlin, Toulouse and Brazil, and aims to bring together this mixture of styles in her performances. Her typical Saturday night includes hanging upside down on stage jamming along to the DJ in some of Dublin’s best clubs, and she’s always up for a guest performance when the Circus comes into town!
I would love to continue growing, exploring more contemporary work outside Dublin. PITCH’D seems like the perfect place for me!
Louis is an emerging circus performer specialised in handbalancing, clowning and contortion. In his performances, he explores vulnerability through the art of handbalancing, failure via the lenses of light clowning and aims to inspire people to pursue their own dreams.
As an emerging circus artist (handbalancing and clowning) who wants to specialise in street performance, I am particularly interested in Pitch’d. I know a few people at circus factory cork and want to deepen these connections, and this program looks like the perfect opportunity.
