The ISACS Network and SpringMoves Dance Festival were delighted to bring back Where Dance meets Street in partnership with Wexford County Council, the National Opera House, the Welsh Government Office in Ireland, and The Arts Council of Ireland.

This year, Where Dance Meets dived into the collaborative space between Street and Dance. We were excited to welcome Welsh artists No Sleep Dance Theatre to Wexford for a dynamic two-day programme:

As part of the initiative, ISACS provided one bursary support for an ISACS Member to participate in the Artistic Development Programme. The selected artist wasCormac Mohally.

Below is a selection of testimonials gathered from the participants:

I really enjoyed being immersed in a day of dance to be able to focus on my development as a dancer first, 23 years after transitioning into teaching. No Sleep were a kind, nurturing and fun company to work with as were all of the participants. Joined by a love of creating and moving, the workshop gradually and gently built our movement confidence to a point where we were all eager to perform and share our work with the public. I am so grateful I took the leap of faith to attend and be part of this event.

No Sleep Dance Theatre had a fabulous way of bringing together different modalities of dance and circus, which they taught in an accessible and fun way. It was inspiring to use the masks and learn about the work that went into the creation of the performance, mask making, and embodying the wild animals. It was amazing to see and feel learning and awareness raising about important social challenges explored in a fun way which certainly enhances learning and engagement.

This was my first time to do any kind of street performance like this and the support from the facilitators made it so fun and enjoyable!

It brought more curiosity and openess into my awareness for a period after performing and has helped broaden my perspective.

It was great to have the team from ISACS there for support, healthy snacks, a solid base in the Opera house and encouragement.

I had an amazing experience at the no sleep dance workshop and learned a lot. I come from a gymnastics background where everything has to be perfect so it was weird to be let free to move like animals. The inturucters were really good at guiding us through our movements and I would definitely attend again.

Great workshop, with a practical performance element applicable to developing my artistic practice.
