A workshop welcoming aerialists or dancers, Oran will utilise the medium of dance to unlock more possibilities on the spiral and see it as a dance partner. As such, participants will be invited to experience contact dance within the group as the impetus for spiralling. This is a safe, non-judgemental space to move outside your comfort zone.

Moving between floor and air, the spin and curves of the spiral will inform an unfolding dance as you interact with the apparatuses – both small and large spirals. While there will be some choreographic offerings, the workshop will primarily support participants to explore through their own unique movement.

What you need: Dance experience is beneficial, but not essential. A willingness to try is appreciated and a tolerance for spinning a must. Bring water, layers and snacks / packed lunch.

IACC micro-bursary: In 2024 IACC will offer 1 free place in each workshop, and €75 in funding to allow an Irish-based or Irish-born artist to attend the workshop. Priority will be given to those under-represented in the CSAS sector and who have not received the bursary before. To apply please email info@iacc.ie with the subject “Microbursary Application – Oran” with a brief reason for applying and confirming you’re Irish-based/born.
