The ISACS Network are deeply committed to ensuring fair pay for artists. This is underpinned by the Arts Council of Ireland’s Paying the Artist Policy. In order to understand and learn more about the landscape around artists pay for the Street, Circus and Spectacle sector, we conducted a sample study into same.

We asked our members a number of questions about the rates they charge for different kinds of work, through our 2025 Annual membership survey. Based on the data they provided,  we’ve created a report for use by our members, to help in guiding their pricing practices in future.

We asked about five different categories: corporate work, commercial work, funded project work, teaching work, and community work. We invited text responses to help us capture the variety, complexity, and sensitivity of pay conditions across diverse artforms, disciplines, and ways of working. We received answers from 57 individual members, and we’re hugely thankful to these members for trusting us with this information.

This data can help you understand what other artists are charging for similar work, whether your prices are below or above average, and what kind of factors you should consider when pricing your work. We also look at how the most common artists’ pricing rates relate to the Irish minimum wage annual income, and the Irish national median income.

We hosted a presentation of this data on Zoom on Tuesday May 6th, 2025.  A recording of this presentation is also available for members only, please email info@isacs.ie for the link.
