Delve outline program and experience.

I was lucky enough to be on of the two delve attendants at the National Circus Festival of Ireland. Our schedule was action-packed from the moment we arrived. Attending shows, workshops and lectures. It was a feast for the senses. It was also a great opportunity to meet so many like-minded people and connecting with people in various areas/disciplines of the circus community. The ISACS Network team were an incredible support and were amazing at inclusion and organising us so that we got to make the most of the festival. I loved every bit of the experience.

Work that I saw;

I saw so many new pieces of work, which was really exciting and it felt like a melting pot for creativity. Examples of some work were the show Strong Women Science, it was playful in execution, informative and skilled. It was empowering for young women too. They also had fantastic crowd interaction and I loved how they had the kids take part in their experiments. The other piece I saw was a work in progress by the new collective Siolta. Their show had highly skilled acrobatic tricks but it was executed with great softness and fluidity creating an aesthetically pleasing language through just their movements. They had a god us of eye contact and smiles so it felt you were part of the inclusion. Their act was also playful and sincere.

I discovered there is a lot of activism work done behind the scenes to establish the circus community here in Ireland.

The whole weekend was inspiring, to see the work involved in creating the community, the support that is given to artists to produce and perform new work in a safe space. It got me thinking creatively and give me the encouragement to pursue ideas regards making work.

I highly recommend this program for anyone who is looking to meet the community and to find out what is happening in it. You will make so many connections that will help you discover more about what you want to do. And not only that you will make genuine friendships. It is completely nourishing for anyone who wants to delve into their discipline more with a professional outlook.
