Discovery
On a personal level, I have found great connections and a wonderful humanity that transpires especially from the organisers, allowing me to feel closer to them. Often, we -freelancers- might feel disconnected by the main organisation's system, but thanks to ISACS coordinator, Lucy Med, I felt very supported and taken by hand.
Exploration
We were part of a full program of great shows, we went to see, nearly 3 shows per day. Among the many I would underline:
“Union Black”, where I saw how new Circus and Hip-Hop can create magic on stage, bringing strong messages and engagement.
“Numbered” by Corka Dorka, a site-specific show that gave me good ideas on how to create theatrical stories in the park at night time.
“Kamchatka”'s street performance style, that was without any doubt the company I admired the most. I appreciated their capability to relate to any audiences, their freshness and unity.
“England”; a wonderful story inspired to a living artist, hosted in Crawford gallery, wonderfully performed and bringing touching strong themes
“Pic-Nic” in the park with ISACS members shows
Also, suggested by one of DELVE's supporters, I went to see another show I enjoyed very much: “Half Light”, a show for children but with great message for adults alike.
Learning
I have definitely gained a lot by just attending these 3 days festival. Most than anything I believe that the best asset was Lucy. Her way to involve us as Delve's participants was just fantastic. ISACS created the perfect situation to allow us participants in relating to each other's ideas and skills, plus meeting Art Council representatives as peers.
I would like to investigate more into other organisations that can support my own projects, that should be ready by Autumn.
Inspiration
I was inspired by the simplicity of relating to each other. The idea of meeting organisers often put us on different levels, but ISACS managed to fill that gap with ease, including us in various formal and informal meetings.
I would definitely recommend the DELVE programme and I have already done it, giving really good publicity at a vocal and personal level to friends in the Circus circuit.
