For #Delve17, ISACS partnered with National Circus Festival of Ireland to offer 2 ISACS members the opportunity to experience Irish and international circus arts, conferences, and full days of training and workshops.
The lucky Delve participants had travel, accommodation, and meals covered to give them the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the full duration of one of the best Irish circus gathering of the year.
Headlining the festival at Friday Night’s show was Svalbard Company from Sweden. At the heart of the festival was the annual Circus Siamsa, back with an entirely new show created by Fanzini Productions, bringing the stars of contemporary circus, street and variety performance to the stage of Siamsa Tire Theatre, with Roxana Kuwen, Mat Ricardo, Maleta, Madame Jocelyne, Tobia Circus and Brian Daly. Our two delvers also attended 5×5 acts, a new initiative from the National Circus Festival Ireland 2017 offering five artists (including ISACS member Sevesfeathers) and Roxana Kuwen, and the opportunity to present five minutes of new, unperformed material in front of supportive audiences, at the Circus SideShow, which was followed by music and informal networking. The Renegade, an open mic for circus performers, was also the opportunity to try new tricks in front of a supportive audience.
The weekend was also an opportunity to network and talk about Circus with professionals of the sector during the Share Forum organised by ISACS with an open circus forum to discuss 'Circus - Past, Present and Future' with special guests Dea Birket of Circus 250 and Claire Teasdale of Extraordinary Bodies, followed by a Youth circus Focus led by Galway Community Circus in partnership with ISACS and Arts Council Ireland.
A full weekend of circus workshop and training also awaiting the delvers with Dutch acrobat legend Fons, Ali and Henrik of Circomara, acro-yoga teacher Deirdre, aerial teacher Cat Ní Riain and Roxana Kuwen teaching trapeze and funambulism workshops with Galway Community Circus.
