Springboard Seminar with Galway Community Circus

Galway Community Circus in association with the Irish Street Arts, Circus & Spectacle Network were delighted to host the inaugural Springboard Seminar this year; an information day on further training and education opportunities within circus & street arts. The goal of the event was to educate young people, parents and the wider community about the different possibilities open to people when considering these art forms as a career path. The day included presentations from International and Irish speakers, panel discussion and a short performance.

58 people attended the event from a range of different areas and levels with high participation and involvement in all discussions.

We were particularly delighted to host Tim Roberts of Fedec - Féderation Européenes des Ecole de Cirque Professionelles, Mike Ribalta of Fira Tarrega & the University of Lleida, Stevie Boyd of Flic Circus School-Turin, Liam Carmody a student of Escola de Circ Rogelio Rivel-Barcelona and Freddy Burrows a student of Codarts-Rotterdam (both ex GCC students).

Read full report about the event here on the Galway Community Circus page.

This event was preceded by the incredible Macnas parade 'The Shadow Lighter' featuring a large group of Galway Community Circus performers.

Many thanks to the Arts Council of Ireland for their generous support.
