Physical Theatre & Mask Technique Master Class with Boom Circus (US)
ISACS are delighted to host this unique 2 day Master Class in Physical Theatre and Mask Techniques, in association with the Wexford Arts Centre and Waterford Spraoi, led by David Poznanter and Peter Sweet of Boom Circus (US) over the 26th + 27th July in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, just days before they set to wow the crowds at the Irish premier of their dynamic street show ‘Boom’ at Waterford Spraoi, the longest running street arts festival in Ireland over this August Bank Holiday weekend.
“BOOM!” breathes new life into the ancient tradition of masked theatre, full of spontaneous improvisation, heartwarming drama, impossible skills and hilarious moments of sheer humanity. Peter Sweet and David Poznanter portray a cast of 6 characters who put on an entire circus, complete with slackrope, Cyr Wheel, juggling and live music”

About the Artists...
David Poznanter is a professional mask maker, circus artist, singer, actor, and dancer. David’s education includes more than 12 years of higher education, including an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College (USA), three years of contemporary dance training at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (Austria), and the professional training program at Helikos: International School of Theatre Creation (Italy).
David’s career has led him to perform, teach, and choreograph in more than a dozen countries around the world. In recent years David worked as Managing Director of Havik Circus in the Dominican Republic, performed acrobatics in an 80-city N. American tour with Cirque Dreams, and spent two years in India as circus coach and personal trainer to Bollywood moviestar Aamir Khan.
He has also created masks for five professional productions, including Don Quixote (Marin Shakespeare Company – California) and I Imagine (Aakash Odedra Dance Company – UK).
Peter Sweet has been working professionally as a circus artist, actor, clown, teacher and director since 2000. He has completed more than 10 years of full time training in the arts, and toured his solo circus show, “Meet Pete Sweet,” to hundreds of festivals, circuses, and theaters in more than 20 countries.
Sweet studied physical theater at Helikos: International School of Theater Creation in Florence Italy, Contemporary dance at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in Salzburg, Austria, and Circus at the Ecole du Cirque Zofy in Sion, Switzerland. Sweet’s seemingly infinite desire to master his craft, is matched only by the heart and sincerity that he pours into every creation.Find out more about Boom Circus and their work here.
