DELVE18: Meet the Dublin Dance Festival Delvers!

Congrats to our member Maria Corcoran and Jessica Doolin! They have been selected to take part in our #DELVE18 programme at Dublin Dance Festival this May! For the third year in a row, our DELVErs will Discover, Explore, Learn Visualise and Engage with the artists at a selection of events specially selected by our festival partner and share their experiences and learning’s with you. 

Keep an eye on the hashtags #DELVE18 and #DDF2018 in this weekend and next week. 

We will be retweeting and reposting what’s happening live at the events on:

What's on at Dublin Dance Festival?

Dublin Dance FestivalDublin Dance Festival is the leading dance event on the Irish arts calendar. Each year in May, the Festival brings together dance artists and choreographers from across the world to share vibrant contemporary dance with audiences in Ireland. 

'DDF delivers excellent and diverse dance experiences for the widest possible audience. We are committed to developing new artistic collaborations to shift expectations and create exciting artistic trajectories for dance in Ireland.'

The festival starts on the 2nd of May and has a very exciting programme.

Maria Corcoran | ISACS Profile

Maria Corcoran

Maria Corcoran of Circo Coranco is a circus artist with eight years of experience in creating, producing, performing and teaching circus arts. She has developed technical skills in balance, object manipulation and theatre. She has a particular interest in unicycling, juggling and clown. She aspires to captivate audiences, transforming them and sending them away with a heightened awareness of their potential within. She is passionate about circus arts and endeavours to spread the joy that it has given her.

She is currently working with Aoife Raleigh on a new duo act called The Quare Wans which they will bring to street festivals nationwide this summer. She works with Dublin Circus Project, Cloughjordan Circus Club, Fireflies and Clowns Without Borders and is always keen to collaborate with other groups and projects. She also works in science outreach and is developing a program to teach science through circus arts.

'I expect to have lots of fun and enjoy new experiences as well as making new connections with people.'

Jessica Doolin | ISACS Profile

Jessica Doolin
My name is Jessica Doolin, I am originally from Ireland. I am a hula hoop, circus artist and founder of My Bubble Bum costume/festival apparel. I originally began my circus journey in London and then I moved to China to train full time at Beijing International Art school.
Soon after graduating I travelled from city to city performing my hula hoop and aerial hoop act in high top circus tents around China. I have recently moved back to Ireland where I am now based and travel frequently for performances. 

'I hope to gain new and fresh ideas from the D.E.L.V.E programme and meet likeminded people in the industry, I love to create so I hope to meet with people which I can collaborate with in the future.'

What is the DELVE programme?

DELVE is a GO-SEE professional development programme supported by Arts Council Ireland, launched in 2016, to support ISACS members to get out, see and learn about street, circus and performance arts happening all around Ireland.

The programme involves going to various festivals, seeing and observing work from the street, circus and spectacle sectors, meeting the artists, the crew and discovering new ideas, inspiration and delving into these art forms with fresh eyes! 


The aim of DELVE is to encourage dialogue and discussion around a variety of arts forms in Ireland, and to offer critical discussion and analysis and dynamic practices. Participants are encouraged to submit feedback from the events which can be read on our the DELVE page of our website
.

This year, we have partnered up with five festivals to offer ISACS artists the opportunity to delve into Irish Festivals:
