Circus 250 Ireland - First Projects!

Following on from our previous open call for projects and introduction to Circus 250 Ireland in our previous article 'So What's up with Circus 250?', we are delighted to announce there are a variety of performances and opportunities that are under development as part of the Irish programme for Circus250!

We have highlighted six projects in development including one ISACS project!

National Gallery Ireland logoNational Gallery Ireland - Circus250 Exhibition

The National Gallery of Ireland will launch an exciting exhibition next summer, which will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the first circus through works of art and archive material influenced by the circus, fairgrounds and performing arts held in the National Collection.

Cork Midsummer Festival logoCork Midsummer Festival - Union Black (circus hip-hop project)

Cork Midsummer Festival in partnership with Crying Out Loud (lead partner), Far From The Norm, Le Plus Petit Cirque du Monde, and Subtopia, will deliver 'Union Black' an international circus hip-hop project to mark Circus250. This project is led by Botis Seva of Far from the Norm and involves ISACS artists – Tony Mahon, Alex Allison and Davi Hora, as well as Mateusz Szczerek and Karol Szarek. They will be working with local communities in each partner country and creating new transdisciplinary work that will tour in Stockholm, Paris, London, Cork in 2018.


Galway Community Circus Wires CrossedGalway Community Circus- Wires Crossed

Galway Community Circus, in partnership with nine European youth and social circus schools, will train people of all ages and backgrounds in the art of funambulism (highwire). Wires Crossed runs from 2017-2020 and will be part of the Circus250 programme for 2018.

Fidget Feet Vertical Dance Forum
Fidget Feet | Vertical Dance Forum

Fidget Feet recently became a co-partner with the Vertical Dance Forum (VDF). The project is a partnership of seven vertical dance professionals working in Europe and Canada. To celebrate Circus250, Fidget Feet's Irish Aerial Dance Fest will host additional specialised vertical dance workshops, vertical dance symposium and programme national and international work, in partnership with Donegal CoCo, An Grianán and Vertical Dance Forum (Creative Europe funded project).
