Seve Feathers is a Dublin-based image-maker who uses circus, movement, musicality and projections to create original striking imagery of a poetic nature in solo or collective work exploring current societal and psychological issues with a view to provoking thoughts and sharing a journey with the audience.
With a background in Literature, Theatre and Languages, Seve started handbalancing in 2014 with coach Emmet Louis in Dublin. She trained with Mikael Kristiansen (NO), Natalie Reckert(DE), Ivory Fox (USA), Olaf Triebel (DE) and Olga Karmanski (USA).
Seve has performed her original creations across Ireland: Dublin Circus Festival, Carlow Arts Festival, The National Circus Festival of Ireland, Spraoi Festival, Fringe Fuse Night, Limerick Fringe, Pitch’d Circus Festival Cork, The Alliance Francaise Dublin, In-Spire Galerie Dublin.
Seve founded her company, Feathers Ensemble, and brought her work abroad to the Hat Fair 2019 in Winchester (UK) and to Spraoi Festival 2019 (Waterford, IE) where she directed and performed “In the City Still”, a poetic environment-specific group performance exploring the interactions of the acrobatic body and urban spaces. “In the City Still” had previously secured the Spoffin Lab Residency (NL) in 2018 where it was developped under the artistic direction of Simon Thompson.
Seve was granted the Circus Bursary Award 2018 by the Arts Council of Ireland, thanks to which she completed the intensive training programme “Raising the Bar” at The Muse Brooklyn (NYC).
More recently, she completed the Ignition residency awarded by Dance Ireland and Dublin Circus Project for “Fleeting”, a cross-disciplinary performance on embodiment through the use of chalk and UV light.
Seve also teaches handbalancing and flexibility in Dublin (Dublin Circus Project, Christchurch Fitness Centre, The Movement Studio, The Fumbally Stables) and via online coaching.
