Safire Hikari is a multidisciplinary artist working across dance, physical theatre, and circus. A Traveller now based in Ireland, her work is deeply influenced by her experiences living in diverse communities across Europe. She believes strongly in the power of the arts to build community and strives to make her practice inclusive and accessible to all.Recent professional highlights include premiering original duet STRAY with Yves Lorrhan at Dancer from the Dance 2026 and Cairde Arts Festival 2026; performing in Musici Ireland’s Chronically Hopeful at The Mermaid Arts Centre and the Philharmonie Luxembourg in 2025; and presenting original vertical dance performance COLLAPSE at the Encuentra de Danza Vertical 2025 in Bilbao, and during a 2026 residency at Il Posto in Venice. She has created & performed widely across Ireland, including at the Irish Aerial Dance Festival, The Hook at Spraoi Festival with site-specific trio An Triúr Deirfiúr, and the Dublin Fringe Festival with original partnering duet When Lives Touch, for which she was awarded the Irish Aerial Creation Centre’s 10-Year Anniversary Award. She has performed extensively with Fidget Feet in large-scale Irish spectacles, notably the Dublin St. Patrick’s Parade. As an educator, Safire teaches extensively across Europe and has led several youth arts projects in Ireland. These projects have included directing youth dance theatre in Kildare, and running Creative Ireland projects in County Clare, where she taught aerial and dance and created performances with young performers at the Irish Aerial Creation Centre. She continues to lead partnering and floorwork workshops at international dance schools and festivals, including the European Aerial and Dance Festival and the Irish Aerial and Dance Festival.Recent achievements include being awarded residencies with Il Posto, Dance Ireland, SIC International Dance Festival, Coiscéim with the Irish Theatre Institute, and La Central del Circ (Barcelona). Her practice is guided by several mentors, notably Magalie Lanriot, Lindsey Butcher, and Wanda Moretti.
