Belfast Circus – Where Circus Creates Change

Belfast Circus is amongst the family of social circus schools in Ireland – based in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, we have been creating opportunities for people to experience, learn and perform circus for more than 40 years.

Founded in 1985 as Belfast Community Circus School, we have grown from our roots in community and youth circus to become an organisation working across circus education, social circus, professional artist development, performance and festivals.

Our work is creative, inclusive and ambitious, using the unique appeal of circus arts to entertain audiences, develop skills, build confidence and connection, and create opportunities for people and communities.

Every week, we:

  • teach circus skills to children from the age of 2 years old, young people 8-19 and adults of all ages, backgrounds and abilities ;
  • use social circus to work with schools, communities and groups who can benefit most from the confidence, connection and sense of achievement that circus can create;
  • support professional circus artists with training, development and opportunities to create and perform;
  • bring events, festivals and public spaces to life through professional circus performance; and
  • create memorable opportunities for audiences to experience the wonder, skill and excitement of circus.

From our home in Belfast, we deliver our year-round circus programme, produce Festival of Fools and connect professional circus artists with performance opportunities through Belfast Circus Performers.
