The ISACS Network was delighted to bring back the exciting bursary opportunity for one ISACS member to attend a 2 week street arts training at SPASA 2024.
Amy Hegarty was the bursary recipient to attend the international street arts training programme in Lleida – Spain. From Aug 25th – Sept 8th 2024, in Lleida – Catalunya, Amy had the opportunity to work with four companies – Eléctrico 28, Joan Catalá, Le G. Bistaki, Adrian Schvarsztein, through intensive masterclasses for participants interested in creating in public space.
We were also delighted that ISACS member Edaein Samuels attended SPASA independently for their own professional development.
Here is what Amy said about her experience:
I feel so incredibly lucky to have been a part of this program. It was an amazing opportunity to receive masterclass training, sandwiched between two world renowned outdoor arts festivals; Aquelarre and FiraTárrega. Living, working, and creating alongside 20 international artists from various backgrounds was a fantastic, unique experience, and I learned as much from my peers as I did from the tutors. The sense of community we built felt like a big creative summer camp, where we supported and inspired one another throughout the journey.
Each of the tutors brought something unique to the table. Joan Catalá helped us focus on “the details of the space,” while Eléctrico 28 provided invaluable insights into complicité and audience connection. Florent from Le G. Bisteki shared his unique perspective on movement, and Adrian Schvarzstein brought fun and energy to the final sessions. Spasa finished and Fira Tarrega began, and there I had the chance to see innovative performances from international artists. It was an invaluable source of inspiration and a fantastic opportunity to network with fellow artists and international programmers.
