Cork Community Art Link (CCAL) are delighted to have been commissioned by Cork Midsummer Festival to lead the development of the Midsummer Parade, an exciting new addition to the City’s calendar! Celebrating Midsummer Day, the Solstice, Cork’s diversity and its communities, with participation taking many forms. Colourful costumes, props and floats designed and created by CCAL’s crew in collaboration with community groups and volunteers will bring the streets to life on Oliver Plunkett Street in Cork City Centre at 7pm on 21st June 2022.

A programme of workshops have been running in the months leading to the parade, working with groups such as National Learning Network, YMCA Step Programme, Cope Foundation, CCAL Drama Group and CCAL Dance Group. Performances in the parade will feature groups Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance, Cork City Samba, Andrea Williams & young dancers from the Traveller community, Cork Circus Factory and Aatma: Indian Dance Troupe in Cork.  Participation is at the heart of all CCAL’s activities, and we welcome volunteers to join us in puppeteering, performing and helping guide our floats through the streets on June 21st.
