Motion Chapel, in association with Tom Meskell and Roscommon Art Centre, is delighted to present its first Lantern Making Masterclass this August. The two day programme is designed for local artists who wish to develop skills in delivering lantern making workshops, working under the guidance of experienced facilitator and spectacle artist Tom Meskell. www.tommeskell.com
Over the course of the masterclass Tom will demonstrate how to make and facilitate six lantern designs suitable for a range of age groups and skill levels. Participants will also learn how to light and display finished lanterns effectively, with reference to best practice in lantern making and community based arts.
Following this masterclass, selected participants will have the opportunity to deliver lantern making workshops with community groups ahead of Culture Night Late at Motion Chapel.
