“How much should I charge?”
This session, delivered by Membership Engagement Officer Brendan Fahy, will attempt to answer this question.
One of the most common training requests is for more guidance on standard prices and rates for artists. This presentation will summarise the latest relevant resources in this area (from organisations like Performing Arts Forum & the Irish Theatre Institute), show the most common prices from our ISACS Members Pay Review 2025, and discuss the factors artists should take into account when determining prices and rates for their work.
About the Speaker
Brendan is a circus educator and performer (Juggler Brendan), as well as the part-time ISACS Membership Engagement Officer. Brendan has been juggling for over twenty years, and is a former software developer and team lead with a career spanning start-ups, agencies, and multinational corporations.
In 2022 he left the software world and became a full-time circus artist, because he realised all the money and job stability was in freelance juggling. And making people laugh. Since then he has performed and taught circus all over Ireland, at festivals, schools, community groups, corporate team-building exercises, and all kinds of other contexts. His new show, “Break an Egg”, is a comedy circus street show based around raw eggs. It is 35 minutes and 36 eggs long.
Brendan is also a creative writer, with stories published in New Irish Writing and Sonder magazine. He has received supports from the Arts Council, Wexford County Council (via ArtLinks), and the John Hewitt Society.
He lives in Enniscorthy, county Wexford, with his wife, daughter, and dog, in a house where most things have been juggled at least once.
