The Basic Income for the Arts (BIA) scheme will award 2,000 professional artists in Ireland with a weekly payment of €325 for a period of 3 years, starting in late 2026. The scheme opens for applications on April 15th at 1pm, and closes on May 12th at 5pm.
The scheme is for professional practicing artists who are based in the Republic of Ireland and work primarily in the Republic of Ireland. ISACS encourages every eligible member to apply.
This info clinic session will go through the Guidelines for Applications, the eligibility criteria, and what you need to know for getting your BIA application ready. We will also go through the process for getting a Certificate of Professional Membership, issued by ISACS, which serves as one of three required criteria for BIA application eligibility.
This Zoom session will run on Wednesday April 8th, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The training is free and is exclusively for ISACS members.
About the Facilitator
Brendan is the part-time Membership Engagement Officer for ISACS, and is also a freelance circus performer and teacher (Juggler Brendan). He leads the ISACS focus group on artists’ pay, and was the lead analyst and author on the ISACS Members Pay Review 2025.
Brendan holds a B.A. in English Literature and an M.Sc. in Software Design & Development. In 2022 he left a career in the software industry and began juggling professionally. He has since performed and taught all over Ireland, for festivals, schools, community groups, and audiences of all kinds. He lives in Enniscorthy, county Wexford, with his wife, daughter, and dog.
