Would Someone Please Think of the Audiences?
Audiences are the lifeblood of the performing arts. Unlike some art forms, live audiences influence and impact the making of performances. Research for the Arts Council of Ireland indicates that street arts, circus, and spectacle consistently attract large audiences. They also engage audiences who may not otherwise access the arts.
ISACS, in collaboration with Spraoi, is introducing a new event at this year’s Spraoi International Street Arts Festival.
The Arts Council’s Director of Performing Arts, Liz Meaney, and Waterford Spraoi’s Director, T.V. Honan, will be in conversation at Garter Lane Arts Centre on Friday, 31 July, at 7.00pm. Together, they will discuss the various factors that impact audience engagement, with a particular focus on street arts, circus, and spectacle.
Professional practitioners and all others with an interest in the arts are warmly welcome to attend.
