WaterFord Spraoi, Waterford, 30th July - 1st August 2016

I only recently become a member of ISACS so I was more than delighted to receive notice that I had been selected to participate in DELVE to attend Waterford Spraoi Festival 2016. I absolutely fell in love with Carnival and outdoor/street arts since I returned to Ireland in 2010 but as I had no previous Carnival performance experience I have learned all I currently know ‘on the job’ basically. The weekend was an eye opening and very valuable experience for me. ..Being offered a financially supported opportunity to attend such a high profile and key event in the Festival calendar as Spraoi gave me much needed space to ‘breath’ and take stock and determine what direction my artistic life is taking...

...In the capacity of spectator as well as fellow performer I got to meet and talk with people and artists whose work interests me – an opportunity that eludes us when we are performing as we get whisked away immediately after the event especially if we’ve traveled some distance...

...For the duration of the festival ISACS representatives Lucy and Louisa ensured our needs were met, that we were comfortable and dietary requirements met and all in a patient and conscientious manner.   We were provided with an in-depth information pack about the organization which also included a very useful Street Arts Handbook booklet.  I was very happy with our accommodation.  A healthy Continental breakfast was provided on both mornings.  The restaurants we dined in offered good quality food. Our schedule was loosely planned allowing us the freedom to see the shows we each wanted which suited everyone. Social time on both evenings was very pleasant and memorable with opportunity again to meet the performers and Festival organizers. I’ve made connections and genuine friendships that I believe will last. I am very grateful for this past weekend and it was well worth the journey for the enrichment and benefits I got out of it and I hope my ideas and offerings during our conversations and discussions were useful for others too...

Many thanks to Lucy and Louisa for your hard work and dedication looking after us, educating us and also for your infectious energy, and stimulating and enjoyable conversation. A fantastic and memorable weekend!   #lovinglife : )."
